Skin Care That Goes Beyond the Bottle

Everyone wants youthful, radiant, glowing skin until they realize nice skin transcends a bottle of expensive serum or moisturizer. When it comes to skincare, the glow starts from within. So, it doesn’t just matter what you put on your body, but what you also put in it.

While others are filling their cabinets with serums, oils, washes, and more, we’ll let you in on a little secret: Good skin starts from within. In this blog, we’re going to talk about the role diet, exercise, and hydration play in making your skin glow. Skin care that goes beyond the bottle.

Foods That Will Make Your Skin Glow

Alongside the use of topical products, it’s also important to be mindful about what you put into your body. A diet packed with superfoods and lean, high-quality proteins and lipids is best for supporting healthy skin and giving you that supermodel glow.

Here are a few foods to start including in your diet:

Sweet Potatoes

Beta-carotene is a carotenoid that the body converts into Vitamin A. This vitamin, in particular, promotes cell turnover and protects the skin against UV damage and radiation from the sun.

Spinach

You may not be aware of the power that leafy greens have for your skin. Greens such as spinach are another wonderful source of beta-carotene and Vitamin C.

Nuts

In addition to providing your body with essential fats and protein, nuts are responsible for making your skin smooth and giving you a natural glow.

Fish

Salmon, mackerel, and herring are all filled with omega-3 acids, which help reduce inflammation and make your skin better at combating UV rays. If you’re not interested in eating fish for dietary reasons, consider taking a fish oil supplement.

Does Hydration Play a Role in Good Skin?

Probably one of the most controversial skincare routine tips is the importance of hydration and the role that water plays in healthy, youthful skin. Not to burst anyone’s bubble, but water isn’t the skincare elixir so many beauty gurus claim it is. Of course, hydration is extremely important for your skin’s elasticity and your overall health. But, drinking water as your one skincare method is not going to automatically give you ageless skin.

So before you toss out all of your skincare must-haves and replace them with water bottles, consider this piece of advice.

What About Exercise?

Just like water, exercise is a long-term solution for a healthy body and healthy skin. Working up a sweat doesn’t just make your skin glowy and dewy. It also promotes circulation! Good circulation is vital for cell regeneration and the growth of collagen––the building block for skin, hair, muscles, and tendons.

Is Sleep Important?

There are so many reasons why catching z’s should be at the top of your nightly to-do list. Sleep is your body’s time to repair itself, build collagen, and repair damage from UV exposure. During sleep, your skin’s blood flow increases, which helps reduce wrinkles and age spots.

So set your alarm and try to aim for at least 8 hours!

But, My Skin Isn’t Getting Better!

Good skin doesn’t just miraculously happen one day. It takes diligence and may require trial and error before you find your skincare sweet spot. In addition, your skin can be affected by environmental issues, as well as hormonal problems, acne, and psoriasis.
